Welcome to our Parish Life Page!

Divine Mercy Sunday
Pope John
Paul II established the Second Sunday of Easter
as Divine Mercy Sunday to commemorate and
celebrate the mysteries of God’s divine pardon.
He decreed that this Sunday be enriched
by a plenary indulgence so that we might
receive in great abundance the gift of the
consolation of the Holy Spirit.
This
indulgence is granted to the faithful who, on
Divine Mercy Sunday, in any church or chapel, in
a spirit completely detached from the affection
for a sin (even a venial sin), take part in the
prayers and devotions held in honor of Divine
Mercy, provided that the faithful:
1. Attend
Sacramental Confession
2. Receive
the Holy Eucharistic
3. Pray
for the intentions of Holy Father
At SS
Francis & Clare,
we will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet after the
8:45am mass on Sunday, March 30th. Worship aids
are always available for those who need them.
The prayer is a simple one and can be learned
very quickly. If you cannot be at this service,
you are welcome to pray in the Chaplet any time
Sunday by yourself or as part of a small group
in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
Sacramental Confession is always available on
Saturday’s from 4:30-5:15pm or by appointment.
The required Sacramental Confession may take
place a few days before or after this Sunday.
Please
consider taking advantage of these great gifts
of the Holy Spirit.
What
is a Plenary Indulgence?
In the Sacrament of Penance the
guilt of sin is removed, and with it the eternal
punishment due to mortal sin. But the temporal
punishment required by divine justice remains.
A plenary indulgence discharges this debt
during our life on earth. Indulgences may be
assigned to the faithful departed. For more
information on this, please refer to Catechism
articles 1471-1479.
